The Diefenbunker played host to a packed house on Friday April 3 for a special screening of the movie
Passchendaele. The museum, in collaboration with the National Capital Commission and the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television, put on the event as part of Genie Week, a weeklong series of events across the region showcasing Canadian films leading up to the Genie Awards. The capacity crowd of 60 guests enjoyed free popcorn, candy and a free tour of the bunker in addition to the feature presentation. At the awards ceremony, held April 4 to honour the best in Canadian cinema,
Passchendaele took home numerous Genies, including Best Motion Picture. The Diefenbunker also screens films once a month as part of its ongoing
Cold War Cinema events.
The crowd takes in Passchendaele underground.
